Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

Moonlight Sonata

Performed by Nathan Cragg. This wonderful piece by Ludvig Van Beethoven is meant for the piano. However, on guitar it is a difficult piece to play well as it is physically demanding on the left hand, the challenge being that it needs to be played smoothly throughout and there are many barre chords. Many guitarist play it way too fast and with too many varying dynamics. I’ve always thought that this piece should be played slowly with not too much variation in dynamics. Maybe it was because as a child I heard this piece played live on the piano many times without the variation and it just stuck with me ever since?

Song: Moonlight Sonata No. 14, mvt. 1, Adagio: L V Beethoven
